The Navua football side is heading into this year’s Digicel Fiji FACT with an aim to continue the tournament form they had last year.

In the last tournament held on the Fiji FA calendar last year, Navua made the final of the IDC at the HFC Bank Stadium before losing to Suva.

The side held a team bonding exercise thanks to its kind sponsors River Tubing Fiji.

“Last Sunday, our team players with officials went up the Navua River for tubing and we thank our sponsor for the tournament, William Danford for making it possible,” said team president Rajeev Prasad.

“The team also had lunch which was prepared by the team members. It is all about getting the bonding right before we head into the tournament.” Navua will face Ba, Lautoka and Suva in its pool games.

“We know we are in a tough pool, but we have shown this year and last year that we are capable of defeating the big guns.”

Prasad has also called on fans to come down in numbers to support their team.

“Our fans play a major role in how we perform, and we call them to come out in numbers again to support us.”

Navua plays Ba in its opening match at 3.30pm on Friday at the HFC Bank Stadium.

In other matches on Friday, Nadi battles Tailevu Naitasiri at 1.30pm, Suva takes on Lautoka at 5.30pm while Labasa and Rewa play in the feature match of day one at 8pm.

The official opening of the tournament will be held at 7.30pm.
